Biography

Simi Basu, MSc(IT) and MBA(IT) is the Computer Science and Information Technology Instructor at STEM School Highlands Ranch. She has 13 years of IT experience working with IBM and Express Scripts. This is her third year teaching at the school and she has strong analytical and critical thinking skills that brings the real-world experience for the students. She is working on K-12 Cyber Framework Curriculum and believes in “starting young”. The curriculum that she teaches includes HTML, Javascript, Python, GIMP, Photoshop, 3D Modeling with Blender, Gaming Engine using GameMaker, Unity and Unreal 4 engine, and Cyber Security. She uses the Problem-Based Learning method for teaching rather than a traditional classroom learning. With PBL, she presents the students with a problem and the learning becomes active as students discover and work with the content that is necessary to solve the problem. Her mission is to educate more girls in computer science. She has all girls teams for cyberpatriot competitions and she also runs Girls who code club. One of girl student won the Young scientist awards.

She is also working on a Global Learning mission via the SYNK to connect teachers and students to schools, higher education and industry from all over the world.
